Son Doong Cave (Vietnamese: Hang Sơn Đòong) is well-known as the largest natural cave of the World. The cave is housing many limestone grottoes, stalagmites and stalactites.

The Cave of Son Doong is located within the National Park of Phong Nha-Ke Bang (about 500km south from Hanoi Capital), it is a must visit for adventurous travelers looking to explore one of natural gems during their holiday to Vietnam.

The cave was first discovered by a local man named Ho Khanh in 1991, followed by British cavers’s team lead by Mr Howard Limbert in 2009. With sections reaching up to about more than 200 metres high, The Cave also spans about 9 km in length, making it about two times largger than Deer Cave in Malaysia. The cave of Son Doong is also a home to a variety of wildlife, including bats, monkeys and flying foxes.

To reach the cave of Son Doong, you need to hike 6km-long through the rainforest, which includes passing through a small local village that’s home to the ethnic group of Ban Doong. Entrance Fee Ticket to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park costs 40,000VND, plus additional tickets (range from VND 80,000 to VND 150,000) to enter the caves/grottoes via a guided tour.
